“To experience something raw and something real, you must first accept the complexities of our emotions, of our world, and of the people who make it up. Once we open our eyes to different worlds and different perspectives, it is apparent, that yes there are endless issues to overcome, but also endless hope that we can and will do so.”

Kristen Sheree (Director of Diversity and Inclusion)
Kristen Sheree has worn many hats throughout her career—from substitute teacher and basketball coach to her current role in the prison system. Yet her most defining experience came during seven years as a mental health technician, where she worked closely with children and discovered her lifelong passion for helping others. A proud Louisiana native and preacher’s kid, service and compassion are second nature to Kristen. Beyond her professional work, she is a poet, writer, mentor, and humanitarian whose voice uplifts and inspires. Kristen serves as the Diversity & Inclusion Director for 225 Theatre Collective, a Baton Rouge–based nonprofit dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices through the power of storytelling. She made her acting debut in The Confusing World of Folk Tales and continues to champion inclusive programming, seasonal showcases, and events that bring diverse communities together. For Kristen, giving back through writing, performance, and storytelling is her greatest achievement. She believes in the transformative power of the arts to create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Currently, she is focused on expanding outreach efforts and building bridges between local artists and broader audiences.
Her guiding philosophy echoes the words of Mahatma Gandhi: “If we change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.”
